30 Weeks!

We've made it to 30 weeks!!! The babies are growing and look great. Not surprising at all, BGF is quite competitve already and weighed in at 3lbs. 4oz. while BBF weighed in at 3lbs. 2oz. My cervix shortened a little but not much...it's around 1.3 and I'm still considered stable.

I miss running, specifically training but I'm thankful for all of things it has taught me. I'm not sure if I would be handling this very well if I didn't have lessons learned from long distance running. That probably sounds ridiculous to most people, but I know a few of you reading who can agree with me. When you're training for a marathon, you do hill repeats, speed workouts, long slow distance runs, etc. Each has its purpose. This training has taught me endurance and lots of discipline. It take a lot of discipline to get up at 5:00 on a Saturday morning to run over 2 hours; in my opinion, it takes even more to do hill repeats and speed drills. I've rearranged schedules to fit in my long run, including taking a vacation day from work if I knew I wouldn't get it done during a weekend. I take my running shoes on vacations and I force myself to keep going when I just want to stop and take a walk a break. After 99.9% of my runs, I am so glad I did it; I usually feel wonderful and pretty proud of myself. I am trying to just keep that mindset here. I usually get a medal, bagel and cold beer at the end of a race and I'm ecstatic about it; I just can't imagine the joy I'll have from the "rewards" at the end of this.

Random observation: The pink bear balloon is still on the 3rd floor ceiling. Also, I smirk at every bad weather forecast...sorry, I can't help it. I really laugh a little when people complain on facebook about being snowed in...try sitting in the same hospital room for 2+ months! If you listen to Kidd Kraddick, you just might hear me call in during the "Get over it" segment :)
