Brooks and Charlotte are one week old today! We all came home from the hospital together Tuesday. We are so incredibly grateful that they were healthy enough to come home and never had to spend a minute in the NICU...that was always our goal.
This week they had their first baths which went well; they didn't love being naked and cold but we all got through it. We also had our first doctor visits. The first was the 48 hour checkup with the pediatrician. They are only down 5% and 4% from their birth weights which is normal. They didn't pee on anyone and everyone was very impressed that we were 5 minutes early. Then we went to the plastic surgeon to look at Brooks's ears. The top of his ears didn't fully form so he is wearing ear cuffs to stretch the skin and correct the problem now instead of waiting until he's five to do major surgery. The cuffs do not hurt him at all but I still got a little misty (darn hormones). We'll go back every two weeks to get them re-sized and the doctor predicts that he'll have to wear them for six weeks. He was so good at the office; he stayed really still during the procedure and didn't really cry at all. Brandon and I were so proud! Yesterday we had our first family walk and we all four enjoyed getting some fresh air and are very much looking forward to the nice spring weather! Brooks and Charlotte also got to meet their cousin Hudson and their great grandparents this week with many more visitors to come!
Sorry for the lack of pictures. We have been taking lots, but Brandon uploads to our picture page and I never think at the time to get some for the blog. I'll have to get a few off his computer.
